A course plotter kit that includes a 7 inch Single Handed Divider and the Portland Course Plotter.
The Portland Plotter is one of the most popular chart work instruments and is widely used by RYA practical and shore based instructors. It provides a quick method of plotting courses and bearings and gives a direct reading of corrections for magnetic variation. This new version has been developed in consultation with the RYA and has been engineered for both strength and fine accuracy.
The bright blue directional arrow prevents accidental reciprocal bearings and the edges are graduated for tide and boat speed. The base has a fixed grid so it is easy to plot latitude from your GPS system.
Comprehensive instructions by James Stevens, RYA National Coach, are included. James has been responsible for the standards of RYA Recognised Sea Schools and instructor training since 1987. Until recently he compiled the RYA shore based assessment papers and 1996 was awarded the Royal Cruising Club's medal for services to cruising.
